Account & Technical Help
Everything you need to know about managing your 2048.now account - From sign-up and Google OAuth to cross-device syncing and mobile installation. If you can't find your answer here, reach us through the support form.
1 How do I create an account on 2048.now?
Click Create Account or Sign Up in the top navigation bar. You can register with an email address and password, or use Google Sign-In for one-click account creation with no separate password needed. The registration flow takes under a minute. Your first ranked game can begin immediately after signing in - No email verification required to start playing.
2 How do I sign in with Google?
On the login page, click the Continue with Google button. You'll be redirected to Google's authentication screen, then returned to 2048.now logged in. If it's your first time, an account is automatically created linked to your Google identity. No password is set - Your Google account is your credential. To sign in on a new device, use the same Google button.
3 Is 2048.now available on mobile?
Yes - 2048.now is fully responsive and runs in all modern mobile browsers (Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android). The game uses swipe gestures: swipe up, down, left, or right to move tiles. All ranked features, leaderboards, and quests work identically on mobile. For the best mobile experience, install it as a PWA (see the next question).
4 How do I add 2048.now to my home screen as a PWA?
iOS (Safari): Tap the Share button (box with upward arrow) → scroll down → tap Add to Home Screen → name it and tap Add. A 2048.now icon appears on your home screen.
Android (Chrome): Tap the three-dot menu → tap Add to Home screen or Install app → confirm. The PWA launches like a native app with its own full-screen window, no browser UI, and significantly faster loading than opening a browser tab.
5 Can I play 2048.now offline?
Core game mechanics are cached by the service worker after your first visit and work without an internet connection - You can play the game itself offline. However, the following require connectivity:
- Submitting ranked scores to the leaderboard
- Viewing live games and leaderboards
- Daily quests and events
- Account login and any server-side feature
Offline play is automatically detected - A brief sync message appears when connectivity is restored and your session reconnects.
6 Why isn't my score being saved?
Scores are saved only when all of these conditions are met:
- You are logged in to an account (not playing as a guest)
- You completed a full ranked game without closing the browser or navigating away mid-game
- Your internet connection was active throughout the game
If all three are true and your score still didn't save, try clearing your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete on desktop) and playing again. If the issue persists, contact support with your username and the approximate game time.
7 How do I recover my password?
Click the Forgot password link on the login page. Enter your registered email address and a password reset link will be sent within a few minutes. If you signed up with Google Sign-In, you don't have a password - Use the Google button to sign in instead.
8 Is my progress saved across different devices?
Yes - All ranked scores, trophies, XP, coins, gems, equipment, and progression are saved server-side. Log in to your account on any device - Desktop, laptop, phone, tablet - And your full history is available instantly. There's no device-specific save file; everything syncs through your account.
9 Can I change my username?
Yes - Username changes are available in Account Settings. There's no cool-down period, but changing frequently may confuse players who follow your leaderboard activity. Your historical leaderboard entries update to reflect your new username. Your rank badge, trophies, XP, and all progression carry over unchanged - Only the display name changes.
10 Why does the game feel slow or laggy on my mobile device?
The most common causes: an overloaded browser tab (try closing other open tabs), low available device RAM, or a weak network connection for the initial asset load. The fastest fix: install the PWA version using the Add to Home Screen method above - It runs in its own dedicated context with better memory management than a browser tab. If lag persists on PWA, try force-quitting and relaunching the app to free up device memory.
11 What browsers are supported?
2048.now works in all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Brave. It's tested on their latest two major versions. Very old browsers (Internet Explorer, pre-2020 versions) are not supported. For the fastest experience, use the PWA install which bypasses browser overhead entirely.
12 How do I contact support?
Use the Feedback & Support form to submit any issue, bug report, or question. Include your username, the device and browser you're using, and a description of the issue. The support team responds typically within one business day. For urgent billing issues, mention "billing" in the subject line for priority routing.
13 Can I delete my account?
Yes - Account deletion requests are handled through the support form. Submit a deletion request with "Account deletion" in the subject. Deletion removes your account, username, and associated data. Leaderboard history entries attributed to your username are also removed. The process is completed within 7 business days per our privacy policy. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone - All earned trophies, equipment, and progress will be lost.
